Interesting questions. Why do you ask them? One of my favorite writers writes about being a connoisseur of space junk with the help of vladirian liquor and an on board computer. He made that believable, even though I'm fairly certain he's never been in space.
I believe many seriously twisted dysfunctional people pass for normal every day. That is, every part of them seems normal to passing observers. I suspect their writing would be equally good. Ted Bundy comes to mind.
